Trains or planes from various places arrive in Lhasa, pick up at the airport/station and go to the designated hotel for rest. It is recommended to rest on the first day of the trip, adapt to the plateau, and prepare for the rest of the trip. Actions on the plateau should be slowed down to prevent altitude sickness!
Warm Tips:
1. Tibet is at a high altitude and has strong ultraviolet rays. It is recommended that you bring sun-proof clothing, sunscreen, lip balm and other products;
2. This day is very critical for tourists who are visiting Tibet for the first time. Lhasa is 3,650 meters above sea level, and Nyingchi is 2,900 meters above sea level. You need to slowly adapt to the plateau climate. Guests may experience varying degrees of altitude sickness. Don't be too nervous after arrival, keep a calm mind, drink more water, eat more fruits, and rest more. Don't wash your hair or take a bath. Be careful not to catch a cold, don't do strenuous exercise, and walk slowly. Please bring your own vitamin C and some regular medicines for going out. Good psychological quality is the panacea for overcoming and defeating altitude sickness. A large number of examples have proved that maintaining an open-minded and optimistic mood can reduce the physical discomfort caused by altitude sickness.
After breakfast, drive along the most beautiful highway in China [Lhasa-Nyingchi Expressway] to Nyingchi. In the afternoon, visit the [Kadinggou Scenic Area], which is known as a paradise on earth. The mountains here are steep and towering. It is a typical canyon landform with strange peaks and rocks, towering ancient trees, and a waterfall with a drop of nearly 200 meters. The cliffs are naturally formed with landscapes such as the Great Buddha, the Goddess, Guanyin, the Dharma Protector, the Tathagata Buddha, the Lama chanting, the turtle calling the sky, the eagle offering treasures, the butter lamp, and the Tibetan "Six-Character Mantra" Buddha characters. The fresh and natural natural oxygen bar will make you infinitely intoxicated.
Then drive east along National Highway 318 and cross Sejila Mountain. At the top of Sejila Mountain (4720 meters above sea level), you can see China's most beautiful mountain, Mount Namjagbarwa (7782 meters above sea level) when the weather is fine. The peak is covered with snow and mist all year round, and it is difficult to show its true face. October to May of the following year is the best time to see it. It is called a snow mountain where "meeting depends on fate" by many outdoor enthusiasts.
Then drive down the mountain in the primeval forest and feel the beautiful scenery along the road. Along the way is the primeval forest with the largest timber reserves in Tibet, Lulang Forest Sea, which has been known as the "Little Switzerland of the East" since ancient times. Stay at Lulang International Travel Town at night.
Warm Tips:
Sejila Pass is the best place to see Mount Namjagbarwa. The best time to see Mount Namjagbarwa is from October to May of the following year.
After breakfast, take a moderate rest. The oxygen content in Lulang is sufficient in the morning. Take a deep breath of fresh air and bid farewell to Lulang and head to Bomi. After lunch, head to [Laigu Glacier] to capture the winter in Tibet and encounter this pure blue. Walking into Laigu Glacier is like returning to the ancient ice age. The worldly dust is washed away and the soul is purified. The huge glacier has various shapes and is beautiful!
Warm Tips:
(1) The best season for Laigu Glacier is from December to February of the following year.
(2) The hotel conditions in Ranwu are limited and cannot be compared with those in the city. Please understand.
[Itinerary Overview]:
After breakfast, take photos of [Ranwu Lake], which is the largest lake in eastern Tibet. It is a barrier lake formed by landslides or mudslides blocking the river. Ranwu Lake is famous for its tranquility and blueness. There are very few dead branches and debris in the lake, and the scenery around the lake is different. Ranwu Lake is very colorful, with grasslands, forests, autumn leaves, white waterfowl and colorful pebbles on the lakeshore, which are as fresh as a mirror reflection.
Then go to [Guxiang Lake], which is the mother river of the Bomi people and has a unique charm. The winding Parlung Zangbo River has green turquoise water in spring. The forest in the distance spreads to the riverside, and above the forest is a glacier with heavy snow.
Afterwards, drive back to Nyingchi and check in at the hotel.
After breakfast, arrive at the famous holy lake of the Red Sect [Basongcuo]. The shape of the lake is like a crescent moon embedded in the deep valley of the mountains. The lake water is so clear that you can see schools of fish swimming two or three meters below. The surrounding green mountains are like dark green, and the tops are covered with snow that never melts all year round. The snow-capped mountains by the lake and the snow-capped mountains reflected on the lake are intertwined, continuous and spectacular! On the [Zaxi Island] in the lake, the Nyingma Sect (Red Sect) temple [Cozong Gongba Temple] is said to have been built in the late Tang Dynasty. It has a very Gongbu style and combines primitive worship with Tibetan Buddhist beliefs.
Then we stopped at the Tang-Tibet Ancient Road, as if we could see the mighty procession of Princess Wencheng when she entered Tibet. We returned to Lhasa along the "Tang-Tibet Ancient Road" with infinite nostalgia, and admired the beautiful natural scenery of the Niyang River Valley along the way.
After breakfast, we visited the [Potala Palace], which is more than 3,700 meters above sea level and built on the Red Mountain (117 meters high, 13 floors, and more than 360 meters long from east to west). "Potala" is the transliteration of Putuoluo, which means the palace where the Bodhisattva lives. It is a building that integrates palaces, temples and stupas. It is also the center of the ruling power of the old Tibet, which is a combination of politics and religion. It is divided into the Red Palace and the White Palace. The Red Palace is the stupa of successive Dalai Lamas and various Buddhist halls; the White Palace is the winter palace of the Dalai Lama and the office of the local government of old Tibet.
[Jokhang Temple] is also known as "Zulakang", which means scripture hall in Tibetan. It has a history of 1,350 years. It is the oldest temple in Lhasa and is still the central temple with a high status in the entire Tibetan area. The temple houses a life-size gilded statue of Sakyamuni at the age of 12, as well as statues of Songtsen Gampo, Princess Wencheng and Princess Chizun. (You can experience the scene of Tibetans lighting butter lamps in the Jokhang Temple and circumambulating the Barkhor Street. The whole Barkhor Street is filled with the sound of the six-syllable mantra "Om Mani Padme Hum". It is magnificent and spectacular!) After visiting the Jokhang Temple, you can freely stroll around the Barkhor Street, which has a history of more than 1,300 years. Although it has gone through many vicissitudes, the old city style here is still intact, and the city life of Lhasa can be seen here.
Warm Tips:
(1) Reservations are required to visit the Potala Palace. The specific visiting time is approved by the Potala Palace Management Office. Therefore, today's itinerary will arrange the order of scenic spot visits according to the Potala Palace visiting time.
(2) During the peak tourist season, the visiting time of the Potala Palace is randomly assigned by the computer of the Management Office and is divided into Route 1 or Route 2. The designated tour route on the day shall prevail.
(3) All Tibetan Buddhist taboos must be followed during the visit, such as not wearing a hat, not wearing a skirt, not taking photos (after entering the palace, you can take some "exterior" photos outside the palace), not stepping on the threshold, etc. All tourists must complete the visit within 1 hour, so please follow the guide closely in the palace. The palace is high, so you need to walk slowly up and down; it is cold inside the palace, so it is best to prepare a coat even in summer.
(4) Security checks are required when visiting the Potala Palace. Knives, lighters, liquids, gas and other items cannot be brought in and must be placed in the hotel or car in advance.
After breakfast, we will cross the [Gangbala Pass] at an altitude of 4,990 meters along the winding mountain road and arrive at the world's highest freshwater lake - [Yamdrok Lake Observation Deck], and take a panoramic photo of [Yamdrok Lake] on the top of the mountain. The azure blue lake water blends into the sky, and it is difficult to tell whether the sky is bluer or the lake is bluer. The lake surface is 4,441 meters above sea level, the lakeshore is 250 kilometers long, and the area is 638 square kilometers. The lake water is as clear as sheep fat, tastes sweet, and can be drunk directly. The azure blue lake water is connected to the snow-capped mountains in the distance, and the colorful mountains on both sides, the unique Tibetan ethnic villages, and the cattle and sheep everywhere form a beautiful picture. Then go down to [Yanghu Lake] to get in close contact with the holy lake and take as many photos as you like.
Warm Tips:
(1) Today's trip requires crossing the 4,990-meter Gangbala Mountain. The wind at the mountain pass is strong, so please prepare thick clothes to avoid catching a cold.
(2) There are local Tibetans selling items near the scenic area, so please bargain carefully.
(3) Pay special attention to the yaks or Tibetan mastiffs at each scenic spot. If you want to take photos, you can negotiate the price with the animal owner. Generally, it is 10 yuan in the off-season and 20 yuan in the peak season. You must not take photos secretly. If you are discovered by the owner, you may be entangled and asked to pay a high price. You will bear the consequences at your own risk. If you want to ride a yak to take photos, please negotiate the price in advance!
After breakfast, drop-off at the airport/station in time according to the flight/train time, and end your pleasant trip to Tibet!
Warm Tips:
Please check all luggage items when checking out to avoid missing them.
